A NOTE FROM OUR CEO - NANCY ORTBERG
“Before I started with TBC I had had very limited interaction with "Christian Unity Movements." The ones I had intersected with had been once-a-year gatherings where leaders get together for a bad chicken lunch. They talk, pray and leave...with nothing much coming out of it.
When I was approached to lead Transforming the Bay with Christ, I was asked, ‘what if it could be done differently?’
The different was the robust vision of TBC’s Chairman of the Board, Pat Gelsinger and the Cabinet of a catalytic, holistic Gospel movement in the Bay Area that was not just a one-time gathering, but the building of a collaborative effort for the Kingdom among leaders in our 11 counties and 256 cities. That captivated me.
I’ve been in the Bay area for 18 years. The natural beauty here is staggering, but more incredible than our topography is our unique position as a center of innovation. Like in the days of the Gold Rush, there’s a pioneer mindset here and so much potential for impact not only locally, but globally.
When I first took this job, so many people told me, ‘the Bay Area is a very dark place.’ There may be a lot of truth to that, but there are points of light everywhere. In every town, people of faith are doing great work – in the marketplace, in churches, in nonprofits. TBC’s role is simply to pull the leaders together to see if we can spark even more.
AT TBC we’re
Forming regional networks of pastors and sparking their imaginations for what’s possible in the Bay area.
Helping faith leaders come together around systems change in issues like education, foster care, and homelessness.
Building a process to aid highly qualified church leaders in getting financial help to plant churches in the Bay area.
We’re at the front edge of helping church and marketplace leaders of faith intersect faith and work by recognizing that the primary place of discipleship could be the workplace. We will always be a small team with a start-up mindset. That mindset allows us to continually ideate, to pivot, and to imagine what’s possible. It’s our 4 C’s: CONNECT, CONVENE, COLLABORATE and CATALYZE. That’s really the work of TBC."

“First and foremost, TBC wants to elevate and magnify the ministries of other people. We’re in the background helping them pull things together. I love that this small team is connecting churches to the community, the community to churches, and gathering pastors together. That’s powerful to me.”
Gary Gaddini - Director, Unify

“So many people relocate from around the world to the Bay area. I can actually join Jesus in fulfilling the Great Commission right here. That excites me more than anything.”
Veronica (V) Haniger - Director, Amplify

“There’s so much encouraging work that’s happening here in the Bay Area. I want to make sure we’re celebrating it and supporting the churches in what they’re already doing as we have conversations about the bigger picture of what’s possible to do collectively.”
Toby Kurth - Director, Multiply

“My passion is to help create a healthy ecosystem for churches and church planters. I think it’s essential to train people to think deeply about how they integrate their faith in their lives. Ultimately that will help lead to people coming to faith in Christ.”
